Gus Rancatore owns Toscanini's in Cambridge.

He was born in New York to parents from Boston and
speaks with a confused accent. After working at Steve's Ice Cream in Somerville he started Toscanini's. Twenty five years later Toscanini's continues to make good and unusual ice creams and sorbets, as well as coffee drinks for a wonderfully random collection of people who find their way to Central Square.

Toscanini's makes flavors from Italy like Nocciola and Gianduia, and South Asian flavors like Khulfee and Saffron. We also make West Indian flavors like Grape Nut, Rum Raisin and Guinness. Our most popular group of flavors is chocolate. We make dozens of chocolate flavors including Belgian Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, Chocolate No. 3, Cocoa Pudding, Cocoa Rum Chip, Chocolate Banana, Orange Chocolate, Chocolate Grand Marnier, Chocolate Sluggo, White Chocolate, White Chocolate & Almonds...

We make Burnt Caramel, Ginger Snap Molasses, Coffee Ice Cream Sandwich, Sweet Cream... the list goes on and on. For the past few years Azhar Hussain and Hytham Ashuery have been making most of the ice cream. Gus tastes the ice cream and nods sagely.

While Gus is private about his personal activities he has enjoyed hang-gliding and rock climbing.
